When it comes to your dreams, there are 3 things that you should do..
1) Write it
2) Speak it
3) See it!
Those are the number 3 things you should automatically do regarding any dream that you have. Unfortunately, these are the 3 things that most people will disregard, thinking that it won’t make a difference at all. I won’t make you any promises. But, I will dare you to give it a try and see for yourself…
The first thing to do is to write down your dream(s). If you’re aspiring to do it, write it or have it, then write it down! Get it down on paper. It does not matter if you write it on a napkin or on a $20 notepad you bought at Staples. Whatever the case may be, make sure that you hand write it and not just type it into the notepad on your cellphone. It’s not the same. There is something that begins to click in your brain, when you actually engage in writing down your dream on a piece of paper. The second thing you should be doing is speaking your dreams aloud. Whatever it is that you aspire to do or have, say it aloud every day. We should be speaking our dreams aloud, because our words have power! Speak your dreams into existence. Speak those things that be not as though they were. It’s biblical. Lastly, See it! Get a vision. Imagine that you are already living your dream. Imagine that you already have what you want. What does it feel like? What does it sound like? Most importantly, what does it look like to you? Be as descriptive as you can. You can write it out, sing it, think it or whatever. Just do it.
Strive to do those 3 things multiple times throughout your day. Why should you do this? Because, these activities help reprogram your mind. Your mindset will begin to change in the sense that your brain will zero in on your dreams and your instinct(s) will be to do the very things that will get you to your dream. When your focus is solely on your dreams, then your dreams can become bigger than fear or any other excuse that may hinder you from pursuing your dreams.
Speaking from experience, once I began to do those 3 things consistently, I began to notice a change. Now, the changed occurred in my mindset, but I did not immediately recognize it as such. Instead, I just noticed that I no longer enjoyed binge watching TV shows or reading books that didn’t challenge my mindset or teach me something new. I began to notice that I had a low tolerance for low-productivity. If I was watching something on YouTube, it wasn’t Big Brother anymore, but it was a Ted Talk. Instead of going to the movies, I was going to more and more conferences, seminars and workshops. Those are the kind of changes that can begin to take place once you start to reprogram your mind to focus on your goals and your dreams. In my next blog I will share with you 3 specific strategies that I use to stay focused on my dreams!
